Financial
and other issues
The
group is fortunate to include two financial planners who are both
accredited by Resolution as divorce specialists and highly experienced
in this area. Their knowledge and expertise can be drawn upon at
any stage during the process, particularly where pensions are involved.
It
is common in collaborative law to bring a financial planner into
the process as a ‘neutral’, which means he or she would
act jointly for both parties. Depending on the particular circumstances,
the ‘neutral’ is often prevented from acting for either
party in carrying out any implementation work once a settlement
has been agreed. A second person known as the ‘implementer’
can be appointed at this stage. Exactly how this will work in each
situation will vary depending on the individual requirements.
Sometimes
it might be necessary to appoint other professionals such as accountants,
tax specialists and counsellors. We have a panel of experts we can
introduce into the process if and when required.
